shanxi Posted August 17 · Supporter Share Posted August 17 (edited) A MIng Dynasty coin. Theses coins are usually found in stacks, and due to the raised rim there are cavities. Here they were large enough for the patina to form beautiful cristal shapes. Postvmvs Posted August 17 · Member Share Posted August 17 @shanxi wow, from a preservation perspective having macroscopic crystals growing on a coin isn't the best, but those purple crystals are fascinating! I wonder what the composition is and what conditions were required for them to grow.

TIF Posted August 17 · Supporter Share Posted August 17 I'm working on making 6x4" cards for most coins in my collection and will post the card for this favorite coin that makes several "plate" appearances. I sent a batch to a printer so I can see which paper and finish looks best. Looking forward to receiving the test batch later this week. It will be a fun new way to enjoy my collection, since I haven't been successful in adding anything new in a long time! Next: keep those plate coins coming 🙂 5
