CPK Posted December 15, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted December 15, 2022 Beautiful coins! I really like the Alexander Tetradrachm (#6) with the little scorpion. Also, the thick chunky Syracusan bronze drachm. But they are all fabulous! 2
Benefactor kirispupis Posted December 15, 2022 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted December 15, 2022 Great coins! I'd have to go with the Thasos stater. Though a common coin, yours has a great obverse (would you call it "of fine style"?) Most of the ones I see are almost abstract.

It's not only very artistically engraved, but it's also well-struck and in extremely fine condition. I don't think I've ever seen one of these coins with so little wear. happy_collector Posted December 15, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 15, 2022 Great coins, @kapphnwn. My favorites are #5, 9 and 10, especially the Korinth stater. 🙂
Limes Posted December 15, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted December 15, 2022 I was looking forward to the moment you would post your list, but the beauty is almost too much to handle! 😄 Hard to pick favorites, but I'd vote for the stater of Alexander and the stater from Thasos. Like others mentioned already, the obverse of that stater is extraordinary.
shanxi Posted December 15, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted December 15, 2022 Es expected a wonderful top 10 list. My favourite is the Brettian League Ae Sextans. I love the reverse.
NewStyleKing Posted December 15, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 15, 2022 (edited) Maybe you do or just possibly you don't ( I doubt) The Rhodian large bronze is c temp 1st Mithradatic war and the siege of Rhodes. see Ashton, Richard, NC vol 16 2001, Rhodian Bronze Coinage and the Siege of Mithradates Vl on Jstor It is from Ashton's work that I "advanced" my idea of relating dated Ephesian cistaphori and the headdress of Iset NewStyle overstrike/ die alteration being due to the Rhodian epiphany of Iset. The only real bit of research I think I can claim is original! Nice quality coins BTW as usual!. My work on academia and the Headdress of Iset on academia. ambr0zie Posted December 15, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 15, 2022 A joy to watch. For me, the Thasos stater is the champion of the group. Also liked the gold stater (who doesn't), the Corinth stater and the Rhodes big bronze.
AncientJoe Posted December 15, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 15, 2022 The Thasos is my favorite, followed by the Pharsalos, with the Syracuse bronze as an honorable mention for its style. A great year indeed!
Di Nomos Posted December 15, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 15, 2022 Another vote for the Thasos stater from me. But I also really like the Knidos tetradrachm. Not a coin you see very often. Third would be the Pharsalos drachm, fantastic style. Well done on a great year of collecting.
