Prieure de Sion Posted December 21, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 21, 2022 I get this Nero / Divos Claudius Didrachm from Caesarea. There are 4 types of this coin, with different obverse, reverse legend. https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/1/3647 RPC I 3647 Obv: NERO CLAVD DIVI CLAVD F CAESAR AVG GERMA Rev: DIVOS CLAVD AVGVST GERMANIC PATER AVG https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/1/3648 RPC I 3647 Obv: NERO CLAVD DIVI CLAVD F CAESAR AVG GERMA Rev: DIVOS CLAVDIVS AVGVST GERMANIC PATER AVG https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/1/3652 RPC I 3652 Obv: NERO CLAVD DIVI CLAVD F CAESAR AVG GERMA Rev: DIVOS CLAVD AVGVST GERMANIC PATER AVG https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/1/3653 RPC I 3653 Obv: NERO CLAVD DI CLAVD F CAESAR AVG GERMA Rev: DIVOS CLAVD AVGVST GERMANIC PATER AVG -------------- I think I read the follow at my coin. Obverse: NERO CLAVD DIVI CLAVD F CAESAR AVG GERMA Thats only at RPC 3647, 3648 and 3652. Reverse: DIVOS CLAVD AVGVST GERMANIC PATER AVG Thats only at RPC 3647, 3652 and 3653. So the only exact obverse and reverse is at RPC 3647 and 3652. For the style - I would say, that the portraits of RPC 3652 are bigger - at the example coins. So I would say - its more RPC 3647. RPC says between 3647 and 3652: "Has the same description, but differs stylistically from RPC 3652, which is perhaps from a different mint." Or what you mean? Is there anything I dont see - for the different? And last additional Question - at the Nero Obverse - end the legend with GERMA or only GERM? If its only GERM, then its a variation of RPC 3647 ("The variant legend ending GERM recorded by Sydenham").
