Nerosmyfavorite68 Posted December 23, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted December 23, 2022 My cold, stressed-out mind was slow on the uptake. I finally noticed the pun. It's a toasty 12 tomorrow!
Benefactor DonnaML Posted December 23, 2022 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted December 23, 2022 @Nerosmyfavorite68, I hope things are better for you this afternoon. I do agree that I'd much rather be cold than hot -- I can't stand overheated rooms, and can't sleep if it's too warm. I always leave a window open in the depths of winter no matter how cold it is! But you asked for some warmth, so here's some warmth. Descriptions omitted; the scenes should speak for themselves. Lighted altars: Pomponius Molo: A. Postumius A.f. Sp.n. Nerosmyfavorite68 Posted December 23, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted December 23, 2022 Thanks for the well wishes! May you have good luck at the coin show! A snuggie got pressed back into service. It's too cold to eat downstairs tonight. I guess it's simple fare in the computer room.
Prieure de Sion Posted December 23, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 23, 2022 Hustaler, also spelled Hußtaler, is the name for a medal in the shape of a thaler commemorating the Bohemian reformer Jan Hus, who was burned as a "heretic" in Constance in 1415. The numerous replicas and the almost 200-year period of production testify to the great interest in these minted and cast pieces, which are all private editions. Di Nomos Posted December 23, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 23, 2022 Living in Australia, and the North at that, it's impossible to comprehend the temperatures and weather you are experiencing in America and Canada. All I can say is stay safe and hopefully warm. Not sure these coins will help, but I have a lit altar, lit torch and the sun god Helios.

Traditionally Cricket is played around this time of the year, families getting together for Christmas, playing some cricket in beach or their backyards after lunch! so this coin featuring Sir Donald Bradman batting seems relevant. Nothing surer than the family will be in the backyard playing cricket Xmas day. Nothing like taking a hattrick or knocking off a quick fire fifty. Great fun. Then.Boxing Day in front of the TV watching the test match. Merry Xmas wherever you may be. Be brave during the wild weather and hope you all get to spend time with family and friends. kapphnwn Posted December 24, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted December 24, 2022 Where I live the weather on Tuesday and Wednesday was -34 degrees Celsius (-29.2 Fahrenheit) for a high and - 38 degrees C (-36.4 F) for a low, not counting the wind which would drop the temp about another 5-10 degrees lower. So every coin I own reminds me of a place that is much warmer. Right now it is -19 C which feels almost tropical. However if there is one coin that should fit the bill Rhodes Ar Stater 250-238 BC Obv Head of Helios facing slightly to the right. Rv Rose. Ashton 206 6.68 grms 20 mm Photo by W. Hansen Just looking at this coin makes me all warm and fuzzy. Back in the day I won this coin at auction plus one other but because of a delay in shipping i was worried that it might get caught in one of our many postal strikes. It did make just before. Thankfully. This was long before the days of ebay,, paypal and all that other stuff. 11 1
Nerosmyfavorite68 Posted December 24, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted December 24, 2022 That's a wonderful coin. Wow, and I thought -2F was scary!
Benefactor robinjojo Posted December 24, 2022 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted December 24, 2022 It's a balmy 46 degrees right now in Cupertino, and the night time temperatures have dipped down to the upper 30s the last several days. That is trivial compared to a 2 degrees reading In Detroit that I saw online a few hours ago, with 24 mph winds! I remember growing up there, and I must say I do not miss those winter days in any way. Argentina, 8 reales, 1813 J, Potosi mint. Purchased from Henry Christiansen in the early 1980s. Nerosmyfavorite68 Posted December 24, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted December 24, 2022 The sun on that coin is certainly warm! I survived another night. The latest mini-crisis is that the kitchen sink drain is frozen clogged. It did this before in 2018. The plumber failed with the snake, and then a couple of days later when it was a teensy bit warmer, poof. It stinks to have to wash dishes in the basement sink. I'm feeling much less nervous, however. My saintly neighbor came over and looked at it, and concurred with my opinion. The drain pipe must be close to an exposed wall. He let me borrow a small space heater and it's blowing into the cabinet. I tried to get him to take a gift card or an antique radio, but he refused. He's helped me so much, I'll have to sneak some gift to him. It's going to be 40+ by Wednesday, and allegedly in the 50's for more than a week. A happy Holiday to all! Warm theme to this post: I'm drinking some nice, hot coffee. I'm feeling normal enough where I can search around and see if I have any coins which would fit the theme. I know I have that Rhodes coin. If this happens to any denizens of the cold and you have remedies, please PM me.
UkrainiiVityaz Posted December 24, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 24, 2022 I am pretty confident it is warmer in Miletos than it is here in NE USA.
