John Conduitt Posted April 19, 2023 · Supporter Author Share Posted April 19, 2023 Well, I didn't buy the very expensive Helena from London, even though it sold again at Roma for GBP1,300 a year and one day after they sold it for GBP2,200. Presumably, the Romanophile in whose collection it lost £900 of value was caught up in the recent troubles at Roma. Instead, I went for one of the typically rough (and much cheaper) examples that appear surprisingly rarely. It means I now have all the emperors and empresses from the London mint (although not all the Augustus and Caesar versions, so there's still work to do).Helena Follis, 324-325Londinium. Bronze, 19mm, 2.83g. Bust of Helena, wearing necklace and mantle, right; FL HELENA - AVGVSTA. Securitas, draped, standing left, raising pallium with right hand and lowering branch with left hand; SECVRITAS - REIPVBLICE; PLON in exegue (RIC VII, 299).

Haha - no, although there is a hoard report out now that illustrates many of them. The reason I noticed your coin was that I'd saved photos of a couple of dozen of them from eBay when Rob started to sell them. That one caught my eye since it's from the scarce unmarked reduced issue.
