wuntbedruv Posted October 9 · Member Share Posted October 9 I recently returned from a week's holiday in Italy, staying first in Ercolano for a few days (first known as Resina, then renamed after the re-discovery of Herculaneum) and then going to Rome. This was the morning view from our balcony at the place we were staying. Breakfast freshly made by the owner's grandmother and delivered to our door each morning; stuffed croissants and other pastries, yoghurt, fruit, Italian coffee, fruit juice and lashings of nutella. View straight up Vesuvius, though we did not go up to the top. 8
lordmarcovan Posted Thursday at 06:44 PM · Member Author Share Posted Thursday at 06:44 PM (edited) ^ I’m jealous of y’all who can visit these European locations. I’ve never been to mainland Europe. The dogs were going bonkers barking, a few minutes ago. Turns out there was a young lady stopped across the road to photograph and pick the yellow wildflowers there. She was, I daresay, rather easy on the eyesight. She spoke, but I couldn’t hear her from that distance. I think she was apologizing for causing the minor disturbance. Or for picking the flowers, maybe. No problem. Not my flowers, and the dogs will bark at any or no provocation, be it so much as a falling leaf, or a Bigfoot in the woods. I waved. The group is “Grouchy Like Riley”. They’re outstanding and had just returned from some gigs in Scotland.
lordmarcovan Posted Friday at 07:53 AM · Member Author Share Posted Friday at 07:53 AM Ladymarcovan took some pics of the aurora borealis again tonight. Sure, they’re not as dramatic as some pics you’ll see from elsewhere, but remember, we’re in southeast Georgia, not that far from the Florida line. It’s freaky to see the “Northern Lights” this far south! It’s been an interesting year.
Phil Anthos Posted Sunday at 03:54 PM · Member Share Posted Sunday at 03:54 PM I drove up to visit my wife yesterday. It's a nearly 3 hour drive, but the last half along the MacKenzie River and then up into the mountains is quite beautiful. We tried to get up there for my birthday last month but got turned back about 10 miles short due to fire activity. 🙁 However that road block had been pushed back about 15 miles so we were able to get in, and since the snows are coming this was my last chance to get there before the road is closed for the winter. But it was in the 60s and gorgeous yesterday, and Repo had fun. 🙂 Since this is only about 2 miles from the summit the water here is very clean. In fact the Upper MacKenzie is considered one of the 10 purest rivers in the US. Ironically it eventually flows into the Willamette, which is, well, not. ~ Peter

I would be happy knowing that my final resting place would be in such a place of serene natural beauty. (It won’t be- I’ve already purchased my cemetery plot, so I’ve got some idea of where I’ll be spending eternity.)
