I’m still embarrassed about a few other coins, but those are more just “beginner” coins. Yes, the head scratchers and regrets are the themes I was going for. I have very few coins of Decius; I tend to have few of the really common guys. I'm certainly NOT ashamed of this TD. Trajan Decius, 249-251. Æ Sestertius (30 mm, 16.08 g), Rome. Obv. IMP C M Q TRAIANVS DECIVS AVG Laureate and cuirassed bust of Trajan Decius right. Rev. VICTORIA AVG S C Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm frond. RIC IV 126d; Cohen 117 If the pit were anywhere else on my double sestertius, it wouldn't bug me as much. The decrepit Caesar wasn't a 'bad' buy, as I'm not out much and the high $200's was dirt cheap, even for 2010. There's dozens of coins worse than those two, but I'm not ashamed of them. I don't even think about them. They're just there; things which I picked up on my collecting journey, mainly when I was in my starting phase. I think I paid about $65 for this corroded, worn example: KINGS of LYDIA. Kroisos. Circa 560-546 BC. AR Siglos – 1/2 Stater (14.3mm, 4.50 g). Sardes mint. Struck circa 550-546 BC. -monolith- Posted August 25 · Member Share Posted August 25 I have a few that I've grown to hate: (A very porous Gordian III) This was an early purchase for me, now I have 4-5 better specimens. I was so disappointed with this coin I didn't even bother to clean-up the sellers photo. Various lower grade Salonina's I purchased just to help distribute the cost of shipping for another coin I wanted. A nasty Trajan Decius that I felt sorry for; but not any more. A low grade Ionia, Miletos. A low grade Lydia, Sardes - Seleucia, Antiochos III. A low grade Macedon, Kings of - Philip III Arrhidaeus. A low grade Mysia, Parion. This one would be O.K. but the flan crack really bothers me and I have several better specimens (Mysia, Pergamon). The patina on this Troas, Ophrynion just really bugs me.
