Habib Posted June 18 · Member Share Posted June 18 Greetings. Would appreciate your help identifying this coin. Asking for a friend and this is the only photo I have. The other side is unfortunately eroded. Thank you.
Parthicus Posted June 19 · Member Share Posted June 19 Looks like a reverse of a coin of the Hindu Shahis, there are several different rulers with this type but the difference is in the inscription which is mostly off the edge of your coin. You can learn more by Googling "Hindu Shahis". Here's a higher grade example, from CNG's website: 5
Aldiyarch Posted July 1 · Member Share Posted July 1 (edited) Identifying coins from just a single photo can be quite a challenge, especially with erosion on one side. I had a similar experience when I found an old coin in my grandfather's collection. It was worn and half the details were gone, but with some help from a local numismatic enthusiast, we identified it as a rare piece from the early 1900s. Have you tried reaching out to any local coin collectors or attending numismatic deals? Sometimes, seeing the coin in person can reveal more details.
