This bronze coin of Antiochos I has been hiding out in my Baktrian collection. It's in poor condition and was one of my early acquisitions of Baktrian coins.

I've long classed the coin as Baktrian, but I've reconsidered. While it was probably struck in Aï Khanoum, it is more Seleukid than Baktrian. It does not appear in Bopearachchi or Hoover's HGC of Baktria (vol. 12), though it does appear online in BIGR (bottom image). Among Seleukid references, it appears in Houghton-Lorber's Seleucid Coins and Hoover's HGC, the coins of Syria (vol. 9); Rarity: R2-R3.

It helps to see the BIGR entry, given the corrosion, encrustation, and edge loss.

In the Seleukid conspectus of kings, Antiochos bears the sobriquet of Soter (ΣΩΤΗΡ, or savior), but his entry in BIGR shows Nicator (NIKATOPOΣ, victor).
