panzerman Posted August 18 · Member Author Share Posted August 18 Thanks CPK/ Kali 😇 I had a chance to win one from Hess Auction back in 2011/ but it sold for over 26K SFRCS. Plus it was a more common high mintage ex. Seems this Archer Huntingdon had a vast coll. of coins from Spain/ colonials/ European domains. He even had a 50 Execelente!
Qcumbor Posted August 18 · Supporter Share Posted August 18 Love those 16th-17th centuries gold coins ! This is beautiful Q
panzerman Posted August 18 · Member Author Share Posted August 18 Thanks Q! You are bang on, the apex of coinage was from 1600-1799. Mints would do a booming business/ if they hired staff that would replicate that type of coin design/ artistry.
lordmarcovan Posted August 23 · Member Share Posted August 23 More beautiful gold for some dead bugs, eh? 😉 I heartily approve. Say, speaking of butterflies, do you have any of the modern gold coins with butterflies on them?
panzerman Posted August 23 · Member Author Share Posted August 23 Yes/ I think a few from Franklin Mint circa late 1970s from Papau New Guinea/ Solomons Is. That was back when I was still uninformed before I saw the light and started collecting classical coins. Thanks to NFA Auctions when they sent me a complimentry catalogue/ also Tkalec AG. I still have all those modern coins. My fav. modern proof set is the 5 piece Biafra 1969 issue/ also the Uganda 1969 set/ biggest coin weighs 4+ oz.
